The Flex NoPac shock-absorbing lanyard is a stretch shock-absorbing lanyard which eliminates the shock absorber pack. An elastic material and a shock-absorbing material is covered with a full-strength outer sheath which acts as a backup lanyard. An impact indicator is included to alert the user if the unit has been impacted by a fall arrest.

In a test lab situation, a Flex No-Pac shock-absorbing lanyard is anchored at one end and attached to a 220 pound free weight at the other. The free weight is then dropped six feet. The resulting maximum arresting force is less than 900 pounds. This reduction of arresting force may lessen the possibility of injury to the user during a fall arrest. The Flex No-Pac shock-absorbing lanyard is activated by a force of approximately 450 pounds.

The Flex No-Pac shock-absorbing lanyard dissipates the energy of the impact and may elongate up to 42 inches. This elongation must be considered when choosing a Flex No-Pac shock-absorbing lanyard. By its very nature the Flex No-Pac shock-absorbing lanyard is designed for Fall Arrest but it may also be used for fall protection.
